One Shot
« on: November 04, 2018, 06:08:47 PM »
I was hauling down the road back to camp.  This guy was right on my ass.  I was kinda watching for deer, so I whipped off the road and as I did, I see this 30+ inch buck looking at me.  I had no light but I bailed out of the truck and pulled up the camera, just as he turned and then disappeared into the weeds.   We spent a couple days constantly watching for this buck, but we never saw him.    He was spindly but wide and I loved the double drops.  I have another friend working the area with his camera, I hope he comes up with a better shot.

How old do you think he is?

Maybe just my eyes, but his body (torso) looks really short for the height of those antlers.  Do you think so?  Kind of mis-proportioned, like a gangly teenager.

Some of that is positioning, because he is in the act of bunching up to bail and he is about to spring.   I take about 5 frames per second I think or maybe it’s 12.  Anyways I have 5 frames of him before he was gone.   This was the first. The rest are a blur.  Head on, he was quite impressive.    I’m sure though, a younger deer.  Something to look forward to!

Another fine shot, Doug. Keep 'em coming. When's the calendar going to be ready?

Seriously I think I have enough images, but have lots of time to upgrade.   I imagine about Thanksgiving again.  It’s nice not to feel the pressure.   I’d like to get some mountain or snow shots.   Lots of eastern Washington scrub and desert shots along with some red rock work.   Kinda drab for color. Lol

You could sell them some "on the hoof" shots to go along with their trophy

LOL.   Still doesn't beat me filming a ram in the river and a native rolled up and shot it while I was filming it.
