Need Some Advice
« on: November 10, 2018, 10:50:17 AM »
First off, I am new to backcountry hunting, but am experienced hunter, backpacker, etc. I'm thinking about hitting up GMU 621 around either Mt Rose, or up around Mt Townsend. My reasoning is 1) No roads, 2) its some what close to the national park. I know that I will have to really watch my location so as not to go into the park. I thought about going down to the Goat Rocks Wilderness, but I think that guides use that area quite a bit. Am I on the right track, or do I need to focus efforts elsewhere? Thanks!

I'm about to say to heck with all, and go raise pigs, mules, and tobacco.

If going to Townsend, I wouldn't worry about stumbling into the park, you would be miles from the boundary and would have to cross big trails, deepish water and go up another ridge.  Enough snow there in the last couple of weeks that the does/fawns have moved down quite a bit.

Deer. I think bear season will be over by the time I get up there.

That’s what I’m thinking about there. I think Mt Rose is quite a bit closer.
