Want to borrow: Hilleberg 2 person 4 season tent
« on: November 30, 2018, 08:23:20 AM »
So here's where I am at.  My baby brother gets back from his current deployment at the end of Jan.  We have been trying to get to Alaska for years but his leave dates never line up right.  Well its finally worked out.....ish :chuckle:

Winter mountain goat is on the menu.  I have 9 different shelters clogging up my gear shelves but no solid 4 season option besides flourless and a stove and I dont think that's gonna work well where we are going  :chuckle:

Not really wanting to drop $700+ on a shelter I'm not gonna use again much, I'd like to borrow one.  Need something that will sleep 2 people.  Obviously if I damage it I would replace it and I'd be fine with leaving a deposit.  If I dont get any takers I will just buy one but with float planes, tags, commercial flights, etc., the wife has become less "enthusiastic" about this trip  :chuckle:

Start a fund me post telling how your brother is going to be a homeless Veteran, and so on.👍

If I had one you could use it, sorry I don’t.🥺

Wish I had something.  I've got an old 1 person 4 season Bibler but nothing that would work for two.

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

thank you for the offer my friend.  I should have mentioned this will be a backpack hunt so the alaknack will be on the heavy side lol.

Are you packing on your back?

those alaknaks are pretty plush!  We used Bullblasters in Wyoming and CO last year and was very impressed! First night in WY the wind ninja chopped that poor tent all night and it never budged! The foot of snow the next night did sag it a tad though :chuckle:

Karl,
I can't help.

If I'm going 4 seasons I'm putting it on a mule so being light takes a back seat..
Good luck and be safe...........

thank you sir!  We are fully aware that this will not be an enjoyable hunt but when we look back on it it should be a great adventure. It's been a few years since I've done any type of mountaineering stuff to my winter will be spent being miserable :chuckle:

I’ve got one for you. It’s got good goat juju too.  It will stand up solid to up to 2” of snow as long as its dry and fluffy.

I've got a few different EXPED's available if you want to give one a go. Orion II UL or Orion III Extreme. This time of year, I'd go with the 3-person extreme version, especially in Alaska.
