Traveling Into Canada With Reloaded Ammunition

We had zero issues going into Canada or coming back into the US with reloaded ammo. Going into Canada they didn’t even look at our guns, they told us leave them in the truck and to take our firearms declaration paperwork and $25 inside. Took 20 minutes or so to get through the border into Canada.
Coming back into the US it was even easier. The border guys there never looked at anything other than our passports and we had to fill out paperwork for the fish and wildlife for the moose we were bringing into Washington. Took maybe 10 minutes total.

I’ve had no problem.  The only issue I had was when I had shot shells in my truck.   When they strip searched my truck, I literally had ammo I had no idea I had in there.   Ooops

I had a few spent .22 hulls in the open bed of my truck left over from a shooting session a few days before....

My truck was DISASSMEBLED...the interior was removed, the dash, the doors, anyplace they thought i might be able to stash a .22.  Left everything sitting in the rain for 4 hours while I was grilled, then the Mounties took their tools and went back inside, leaving me to reassemble my truck interior with a Swiss army knife, a crescent wrench and a pair of needle-nosed pliers.

I was pretty pissed, but i now make SURE that there is NOTHING objectionable in my truck before i go into Canada.

It happened at the Winnipeg airport, on my way to Vancouver where I had to ho through customs. So it had nothing to do with our customs. The notice they left me indicated that it occurred at the Winnipeg airport. I’m still mad🤬

It was US Customs. We have Customs there doing pre-clearance.

Thanks, it's pretty much finished. I shot it before I went to Canada on my Moose hunt. I've got the break-in done atleast. Now that hunting season is over I can get back to my load development.
