ELR practice today
« on: February 05, 2019, 04:18:04 PM »
Finally got a chance to shoot from my 1800 yard spot. Took the 338/375 ruger out with 3rd round hit on moa size rock (triangle shape).  Wind was light and 2 moa of wind got me centered with 62 min elevation. First shot goes left and high. 2rd goes center but high 1 moa in the tiny snow patch. 3rd hits on right edge of triangle rock

Looks like a good time.  Cannot wait for the last few parts to show up for my rifle so I can have some fun to.

62 min of elevation! You need a bigger gun man. When you burn out that 338 barrel I need to get you set up with something bigger. :chuckle:

By the way, I think you need to come up with a good name for you 338/375 Long. Every good wildcat needs a name.

How’s that 375 bme coming along?  Last time you got over 3k wasn’t it?
Idk if I’m ready for the cost of .375 as much as I like to shoot
I would like to go with a bigger 338. But by then I may be over it and want the .416 :dunno:

It’s back up and running and I forgot how much I love that gun! 3050 fps is “cruising” speed with the 350 SMK in a 30” barrel and the 300s are at 3145 fps right now. One of these days, Biggerhammer will finish his 375 BME and I’ll get my reamers back.  :chuckle:

Of course, I’ve got a 338/408 improved reamer sitting here too. I might even have a cheytac stock/action that I’d part with..... :stirthepot:

One thing I’m learning with this is having the camera Recording has been Essential.  With out seeing where you hit it’s a waste of time.  Having a spotter that can communicate well would be a an advantage. Having both would be better. Shooting solo I have to take the shot. Then try and spot threw the scope. If I don’t see the hit I have to review the video and then decide if conditions have changed before I take the next shot. By the time I’m ready to shoot again it’s almost like another cold bore as the conditions change.  Quite often it’s several minutes between shots.   Hoping to shoot at 2000y next outing.
I think it’s time to get a GoPro

The GoPro is a HUGE help! At the ranges you're shooting you'll be able to take the shot, then watch the impact on your phone. I'd rather go out alone with my GoPro and spotter than I would with an actual person to spot for me!

I got one but no zoom ??? What am I doing wrong ?  Spotter and iphone works ok at 1000 but gopro would be easier if I can figure out how to see soccerball sized rocks with it.

I just run my phone scope on my spotter.  You can zoom your phone in for additional magnification.
