I just got these pics from a friend. We fished the Snake down by Clarkston last year at the end of June. We went down hoping for cats fished for an entire day and didn't get a single cat but we got a few small mouth on our cat baits so we decided to focus on them. Once we did that we got out the ultra lights with 4 lb test and tube jigs and killed them! I think we got some where around a 100 a day each. We atcually had to trailer the boat, go to Walmart and buy more tube jigs. Well hope this makes you that much more ready for summer.

Thats the boat we will be fishing out of this year for cats at the beginning of June.

Very nice Teach! Yea, the smallie fishing is great in the summer time. I'll have to get one of my buddies to scan some of my smallie pics so I can post em up.

Can't wait to get back out there again this year.

Yep. It should start getting good by then and just keeps getting better as the river warms. The Palouse should be good if the Snake is out of shape. Come on June!

Im looking forward to fishing as soon as I get out of school. I work for a rancher about three miles from Central Ferry and ill be hitining the banks as soon as I get off work.

Nothin better than smallies in my book, you don't have to wait until June though, I typically start in March, with the cold start I probably won't see much until April. The March - May bite is when the big fish get caught. I sure wish we had more smally lakes on the Wet side. We've got a few good lakes but nothing like you East side guys have.

How deep is the water?

4-12 ft deep throw some crankbaits, nothing like getting on a good crankbait bite...

tubes, grubs, split shot worm, and senkos should be all good choices too for that time of year on the river..
if you can get a good crankbait bite like you can in april over there hold on.. ha ha.. it is a blast.
tons of waters on the wet side have incredible smallie fishing.

Rasbo if you are going to use the plastics mentioned above stay with your greens, browns, black colors. There are a lot of items out there and they look real pretty but stay dark. If you want to drop by someday and I will show you some things to get, I only have about 10,000 of them so you can kind of see the colors and the different setups..

yeah I might do that,I cought some on the feather river on a waterdog,what a kick. Ive never been to lyons ferry you still going

Oh yes still going, just waiting to see if the wife is going to be able to get the time off, if she does then I will pull the trailer over there, if not then will just drive the ranger and sleep in the back of it...

No chance of bad weather, Machias already put in a request and mother nature granted it. Its going to be 70 and sunny with barely a breeze. I'm not even bringing a tent, dirt nap under the stars.

Walmart has some really cheap plastics for 1.27 a bag. I was using them yesterday and they worked on Walleye and I've used them in the past and had great luck with them for smallmouth. If you get into the smallies about every 5th fish you will have to replace the tube they rip them apart. I guess there could be worse problems.
