No really, some guy having the nerve to lawfully sell his private weapon at a gun show? (The Horror)  

It is amazing that somebody might actually buy a gun privately, exercising their Federal and State Constitutional right to do so (Their Duty IMO)  

It is sickening! (It Makes me proud)

Members of the WA Arms Collectors have to either submit to a background check or have a current CWP to buy or sell guns on the grounds.

I don't see how buying a gun at a show is more risky than buying a gun out of the Nickel?

The idea that buying a gun that is not registered to you through a FFL gun dealer is unsafe (HOW?) makes about as much sense as Obama's aversion to black rifles.

I tend to be more cautious about it.

The guys that even post on this forum in the classifieds 'WTB HANDGUN, ASAP!!'....kinda makes me wonder.

I've bought and sold plenty of guns throught private deals, but most of them were folks I knew.  A couple guns I still wonder about.  But, I think its good to have a few with no paper trail.

I've bought and sold both handguns and rifles that way. Funny thing the most suspicious guy I've seen trying to sell a handgun was a local guy that is a reserve deputiy sherrif.

Not to get off topic but the most suspicious guy I ever sold a car to was a reserve deputy sheriff....paid me $11000 cash.
I wouldn't exactly assume being a reserve deputy sheriff makes for clean hands.
I would buy from an individual at a gun show.  At WAC, you have to be a member and to be a member, pass a background check.

I have bought many guns at the the gun show, and I would never think twice about buying another.

Actually, becoming a reserve deputy sheriff requires the individual passing each and every extensive background and psycological background check as do regular officers. No difference.

I just sold 1 at the last Puy. show that I had for sale on the classified on this forum and all I had to do was walk around with it on my shoulder. No advertising invovled, but that is part of being a WAC member. There is alot of trust becuase, background checks are already done with membership.

WAC rules state that you must be a member to buy or sell a firearm at the show.  If the guy had a WAC membership badge, I'd have no problem buying that way.  I have done so in fact.  A Remington model 12(?) pump .22 in fact.  Nice little rifle.

I do it all the time, that is where you get the best deals. At the Washington Arms Collector shows, everyone has had a background check.

don't go to new york state...you can't own a pistol in NY unless you have a permit and then the pistol is registered to your permit, thats the only way to legally own a pistol in NY.

Though that is technically true, it is not intirely accurate. Paperwork on every pistol you purchase is sent to the local law enforcement containing all the information as to who purchased what and the serial numbers. In general, the majority of the departments keep this on record even when they are not suppose to. Also the same info is kept at every gun store that you purchase from and it only requires someone like Mayor Bloomberg who has no respect for your second ammendment rites to force the store to turn over those documents.

Jackelope, no disrespect meant here but when I think of New York I always envision New York City one of the great cesspools of United States. No, I won't move there or Illinois, or California.
