308 vs 6.5 creed for deer

Curious as to what every one thinks, 308 or the 6.5 creed for a deer and bear gun, mostly hunting western Washington occasionally eastern, which do you think is better and why, thanks

If your mostly west side and brushy where shots are not to crazy far for bear and deer. I would favor the 308 with a heavier bullet.

I've had excellent results with the 260 REM, which is quite close to the 6.5 Creedmoor.  Really good penetration.  I shoot 130's, and 140's.  Lately, 130 Accubonds with H4350.  It really hammers the deer, with the bonus that I can watch impacts through my scope. 

That said both will work just fine.  It used to be if you didn't handload, 308 was the better choice, but with all the factory offerings for the 6.5 Creedmoor, you really can't go wrong with either.   

The 260 works great for elk as well.

Either one, which ever one fits and feels better to you. Honestly, which ever one shoots more accurately. If you don't have either caliber and are buying one, I would choose the 308 in a rifle that fits you so you can use it for elk, bear or moose hunting as well.

tgomez is right on, fit-fit and optics to go with it. The .308 is good and so is the 6.5C. I shoot my .308 well so my 30-06 is a safe queen and I don't have a 6.5 C but my 6.5X55 Sweed is also a tack driver so it's the flavor of the day when I get to hunt.

  In that case I'm going with a 308, I don't have either but kind of thinking one might fallow me home in the future.

Either one is more than adequate.

If I had to pick one, .308. Because you are on the westside, the shots will likely be closer, and the heavier .308 bullet would have a slight advantage. On paper.

But either one will work just fine.

Caliber anxiety is largely the product of marketing.

308 will do better in brush as it is harder to deflect a bigger bullet.

6.5 better at long range.

308 probably easier to find a box of cartridges in a pinch.

308 probably has a wider selection of bullets to use for handloads.

6.5 probably does not kick as much. Can probably also be made into a lighter rifle.

Either gun will work just fine. I've got a 6.5 Creedmoor. I personally like shooting a lot and not getting beat up doing so. If I was not buying the 6.5, it would have been the .243.

You could flip a coin and end up with a good choice as they’re both good rounds. One benefit of the .308 is the ability to run heavier bullets if needed.

The price point of 6.5 bullets has stoped me from drinking the 6.5 kool aid.
When u look at the price of 30 caliber bullets and the range of weight of bullets for 308 I went with 308, ammo just cheaper .
I just got a 308 this winter ,the same rifle could of got 6.5 but reloading costs pushed me towards 308.
Everybody is useing 6.5 as a cash cow right now.
