So I was thinking about buying some Bullets, maybe primers, maybe powder so I could have someone reload me some .270 shells. I have pretty much figured out what bullets I want to buy, what primers and powder do I buy so all I have to do is give someone a case of beer to do some reloading for me? Anyone have some good load data to share? anyone prefer one bullet to another? shower me with your knowledge!

Tikka T3 Lite .270 win, I believe its a 22inch barrel.. hunting mainly deer but could be elk, bear, coyote...

I have never reloaded for the 270, but I believe a 140 gr bullet is pretty standard @ about 2900 fps for deer, elk ,and black bear? You could go up to 160 gr @ about 2700 fps if you wanted more thump on elk and bear, also as low as 90 gr @ about 3300 fps for coyotes. Hope this helps.

Get a hold of the person that will be doing your reloading and go through his reloading manuals and see what works together and see if you can find the components now, things are scarce.  You might want to look into Barnes TSX or other non-toxic bullets so you don't get stuck with a bunch of loaded lead that you can't use if they push through a no lead provision.

The Lyman manual has a good section onbullet selection for game.

I think 130 gr would be great, but some other folks who shoot ultra mags might think it's kinda light for elk and maybe bear? It will kill all the animals you listed very well, but like always you have to decide what you are comfortable with, ie distance & shooting skill. One of my manuals show a 130 gr bullet @ about 2950 fps. I reload a 25-06 with a 117 gr interlock @ 3050 fps and I am very confident in that load on anything I might encounter around here.

Which Hornady bullet are you considering?  Using such a light bullet, you want something that will not blow up on the shoulder of a bear or elk.

Personally, I shoot nothing but Nosler Partitions for my big game weapons,(let me qualify this by saying bullet selection is a personal choice, like which rifle you shoot) and they will shoot accurately out to 400 yards, nothing that I have hit with them has gone more than 20 feet.

Primers: you will need Large Rifle primers which are almost non existent right now.

Powder is what ever works best in your rifle.

A good resource is www.reloadersnest.com.  They have lots of load data from members, and everyone on the forums is more than happy to help you out.

next saturday i was gonna hit up the gun show next weekend and then take my father-in-law out to cabelas for his first time and see what I can find..

I thought you meant you ordered through midway. i order a lot through them but I always try cabelas first. I have it sent to the store for pickup and there's no shipping charge.

I hunt with a winchester 270, my dad has a remington 270....and my bro has a remington 270 also....

we all shot nosler 140 grain ballistic tips with 53grains of H4831 and what ever primers we could get at the time....

This year im changing to a 140 grain Nosler Accubond, and H4831SC.....Hit of a partition with the performance of a ballistic tip.....

My dad goes to idaho with his 270 every year and has shot 4 elk with his 270 with 140 grain ballistics tips...so 140 grainers are not to small for the job....and between me and my dad we have both shot bears with our 270's....

And we have the bullets flying i believe right at 3000FPS if not more. the 140's have a great BC....but what do we know....

Ohh I am not gonna get into reloading..no way in hell! I am going to have someone do it for me..I have not bought anything yet...
