What bow for adult beginner?

Drew a multi season elk permit, so I’m looking to get some sort of a bow package for a reasonable price. Not even sure where to start. Any recommendations? So far I’ve seen some packages for the Diamond Infinite Edge Pro that are pretty damn cheap. I’m worried the bow would be too. Any suggestions appreciated.

The diamond infinite edges pro is a solid choice.
It has alot of adjustments and is inexpensive

Have you ever shot before? 

I'd say hit a pro shot have them get you set up if you plan on hunting this year.  This will cut you learning curve way down.  Just learning how to hold a bow, find an anchor point and getting a bow properly tuned is daunting once you dive in.

The sooner you can start shooting the better!

I have an old bow (about 13-14 years old). It is a Matthews Switchback . Has killed plenty of animals.  For the age it is still super fast and a good all around bow. I have seen many people and talked to many who said this is still about the best all around bow for the money. You could find one for $300 to $400 all set up. Look on Ebay and rockslide for one if you can find one. Just my

My only suggestion is to not buy a cheap bow package.  For a similar price you can pick up a used bow that is something you won't be giving away next year.

Unless I absolutely couldn't afford anything else I would not consider buying the low end bows.

Bowtech Experience.  Very sweet shooting and forgiving bow with great performance.  Plenty around for less than $500.

I still rock my switchback and have several buddies that have kept theirs even this they have upgraded many times.

Agreed. I have a buddy who hunts with it, and I got one for my son last year. If you're just getting into archery, it'll be years of solid practice before you're able to outshoot that bow.

    Hoyt Powermax, has a rotating module from 25 to 30 inches in draw length, 31" axel to axel, and is rated at 328 feet per second in speed. I have won 2 of the 4 3D archery tournaments I have shot with it as well. It's the perfect length bow for hunting. Mine is set-up at 30", 68 lb draw, and shoots 297fps with my arrows. That's plenty fast enough to kill a Elk. You can find this bow for around $500-650 in a Ready to Hunt package.

I'll echo what's been said about going the used route on a great bow instead of cheap new package.

Try to find someone reputable, see it in person before you buy if you can. I'd say the majority of bows out there are from people in your situation that got one for a year and it didn't stick with them.

Classifieds at a certain archery specific forum has tons of used bows. I'd be leary of ebay bows. Craiglists bow would be good for a meet up in person to check it out.

Then just pay the shop fee and get it setup to you at a good bow shop.

Takes lots of practice, dedication, and a whole new learning curve than with a rifle.

2 points to consider.  Most new name brand bows shoot better than you do. I think a PSE stinger can be had in your price range. Set up and sized at a pro shop for you...

Used bows can be a great deal as long as they arnt too old.  To my knowledge the only manufacturer that supplies parts past 10 years is Matthew's. If you need new cams to change draw lenghts on an older bow they may not be available.

I was going to recommend the Diamond Infinite Edge Pro as well when I first saw the title of this thread. Great beginner bow. The SB-1 is also another option.
