2018 Harvest Stats are up
« on: April 21, 2019, 08:46:32 AM »
So far they managed to only mess up the hunter numbers in each hunt between the modern and muzzy guys.  Still do not see the need to tank the eastside elk tags as bad as they did this year.  :dunno:

I think they messed up a bunch of harvest totals for elk in some of the wetside gmus.
I like the new format, though, much easier to read.

Wish they would change it from distict numbers to GMU series.  Easier to find what units you want to look at.

Yes. 12 nannies reported killed versus 5 the previous year.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I noticed the applicant number for the permits doesn’t match what is published in the game regs for last year.

I wish they broke out east vs. west numbers, made it viewable by district across all types of hunts & methods, and indicated whether the harvest was at target or not.  Heck, why don't they just publish the raw data so we can build our own pivots and see how things affect our areas we hunt without all the mystery.

The way the WDFW distributes this information seems designed to obscure the details so that you literally can't tell what is happening.  It makes it impossible to take any action that has clear data behind it or know anything about why decisions are being made.   I'm pretty shocked.

What I want to see is private vs public.

Let's see how the state is doing in public areas that they actually manage.

A few dozen farm deer taken under depredation permits should not count toward hunter success.

The blacktail numbers are down in the public areas and they know it. I haven't talked to a single hunter who believes they are at normal levels. Everyone says the same thing which is that something is killing them and the state is clueless.

A number of government agencies upload raw data for other types of things (GIS/mapping comes to mind). I agree, would be nice if they'd throw a link up where us nerds could go to work on it.
