Eastern Washington Crappie
« on: May 11, 2019, 08:50:12 AM »
I have a hankering for some Crappie fishing. The only place I ever did any good on Crappie is gone, anyone have any tips on where a guy that lives in the Walla Walla area could go to catch some of the spiny buggers?

The lower Snake River should be heating up right now. Get in the bays/sloughs and seek out structure like wood or weed beds. They should be staging for the spawn right now.

How deep would one expect a Columbia River crappie to be? I want to find a few soon.

When you say gone I assume you mean Kahlotus lake?

My highschool buddies and i went there in the late 80's and killed it a couple of times.

Why did it dry up?

the lower end of the paluse used to be really good if it wasn't muddy. White crappie jig, and be prepared to catch catfish on it as well. Used to kill them on it in there. just cant be dirty,

That happened before I was born, my grandpa used to fish that. I was talking about a cove that had a boat launch that is now silted in.

If you expand your range to 3 hrs, I can probably put you on some really nice crappie.

I use to fish that lake a ton when I lived in town.  Now I'm over by Liberty lake and it takes me over an hour to get there.  Super fun lake to fish, has anything you could ever think of fishing for.
