I think a second deer tag is $42

Yes you can buy the multi season deer tag and use whichever weapon for an any weapon 2nd deer tag

I don't think this would be true since the odds aren't the same for every weapon since for some areas they want more of a certain type.

You're applying for a specific gmu with a specific weapon.
The one he drew was for “any” tag type.

I was able to get on and pay for my second deer tag just now. Seems like they are getting things slowly sorted.

whats the story behind your avatar

I grew up in Alaska, this was a goat I got in Kodiak. I moved here for work. Last season was my first here.

I also drew an "any season" tag and my understanding is that you get to hunt the entire time no matter the weapon. I have an archery tag as well. Normal season starts Sept 1st and this particular 2nd deer tag starts August 1st. Now you have me questioning it.

Yeah if you look at the regs, its "weapon needed TO APPLY" doesnt mean you can hunt with any weapon regardless of which license you have, it means you can get that permit regardless of which license you have.  Still have to use the weapon you chose for your license.  Thats why im going to buy my multi, so i can use my rifle to go whack my doe.  Not looking to try to stalk up on a group of does in open country.

You get to hunt the entire second deer season but it has to be with the same hunting method as your general tag.

It's not an "any season" tag. The tag required to apply for that particular permit was "Any." You applied with a archery deer tag, so your second tag will be archery. So you can only hunt with archery equipment. And yes, you can hunt the entire season shown for that permit.

I applied with an archery license.  Im going to switch to multi before i buy the 2nd deer tag, and if they send me a second deer tag that says archery on it ill be pissed, as this is the only reason im buying the multi.

I'm not convinced that's correct.

"You may hunt only with the hunting method in compliance with your tag...The second tag must be the same weapon choice as
your first tag."

As I read it if he has a multi-season tag, he should be able to hunt with any method.

Correct. Because if he has a multi season tag as his regular tag then his second tag would also be multi season per the regs so any legal weapon.

Yeah, I wasn't talking about if you purchased the multi season tag. Just that if your regular tag is archery, then your 2nd tag will be as well.

If you have the vashon tag you are correct. You can hunt your 2nd deer tag starting august 1 through December

Per the game department..."your 2nd tag must be the same weapon as your first tag, which means you are limited to archery, but able to hunt with that 2nd tag anytime between Aug 1st- Dec 31st until you fill that 2nd deer tag for that area"
