It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

It is hard to follow one great vision in a world of darkness and of many changing shadows. Among these shadows men get lost.

I hiked into the burn area Sunday.  The elk are in there, but not in big numbers.  Quite a bit of grass growing in some areas and very little in others.  Should be phenominal in another year or two when I finally draw.

Hunt the roadless basins of the west side of the unit. Scout on foot, hunt with an outfitter. If you drop a big boy you’ll be glad to have mules to pack it out. Consider a Montana elk decoy to help with hang ups and practice your “bulls calling cows” bugle perfected by Joel Turner.

Does that one picture of the spike happen to be on the left hand side of little Naches Road if you're heading away from Highway 410 down in that Valley right b4 it gets Swampy?
Trophy spikes for days...  :chuckle:

Life got a bit busy and I haven’t updated in a while. On my first scouting trip I basically found where I’m not going to hunt. Gentrys post was spot on about the burn. The edges were green but from what we saw the elk have little reason to go deep in the burn area. Saw some sign but there’s not much growing yet.  On to plan b,c,d,e.  I can’t believe September is almost here!

Keep at it man. There is feed everywhere this year. Even places that dry up by summer are still green and viable. You're in for a good hunt
