Bottom fish charters, Westport
« on: June 27, 2019, 12:31:25 PM »
I'm going to be in Westport from the 6th-13th of July with my in-laws. My FIL is not a fisherman, but has showed some interest in going, so I was planning on booking a bottom fish trip for us. The only boat I've ever been on was the Hula Girl, but they only have combo trips available and I'm not sure I want to shell out the coin when I don't really need any salmon in the freezer.

Does anyone have any particular boats they like going out on specifically for bottom fish down there? I doubt it matters all that much, it's a pretty straight forward fishery, but I'm hoping to provide a quality experience for my FIL.

Thanks,

Rory

Do you want to do the cattle boat experience or a 6 pack?

If you want to do the 6 pack, I would recommend Nick with High Life Charters. We have gone out twice with him this year and had a GREAT time. The smaller boat is so much nicer than the big ones.

I would love to do a 6 pack, but it's just the 2 of us so it might be hard to get a 6 pack boat, and I'd rather not be the 3rd wheel of a group on one. I'm basically planning on taking a big boat out.

I've been on the Slammer a couple times for work outings and have had a great time.  Even won a daily Lingcod derby.

I like the ULTIMATE, they fish with live anchovies and I caught an incidental Halibut last time out with them - 55 lbs!

Check out All Rivers and Saltwater charters. I know people that have been out with them and had nothing but good to say. I have been trying to go with them and finally making that happen Saturday. I will also be going tuna fishing with them in September.

I'm trying to get a tuna day out with Mark in August, but my boss won't give me the green light to book! Mark is a stand up guy, you'll have fun.

I just booked a day with Nick at High Life Charters. I talked with him for quite a while and he didn't have a problem taking just the 2 of us out so I ran with it. Should be a good day.

Another vote for the slammer. I have been out with him four times and Rett always puts us on fish... You book through deep sea charters 360-268-9300 just ask to be on the slammer. Great clean boat and good equipment. Deck hand Will keeps the deck fishing.
