poll: 1-10 what is the wolf conflict in your area you live or hunt?

I wasn't sure how best to do this thread, I wanted to show a progression of some sort from no conflict to maximium wolf conflict. 

I have been noticing some disturbing wolf trends that suggest this area of the NE is about to enter a new level of wolf conflict. We're easily at level 5 and probably in some areas easily at level 6, but I think we're approaching level 7 by this fall or winter.

It's getting noticeably worse and rapidly doing so.   Pups are out of the dens and growing fast, the adults are used to people and used to eating cattle, the pups are learning this behavior and will in turn pass it on themselves. 

I think within 5 years most rural areas in the NE will be at level 7 (and above in some areas), we may even see level 9 be hit, then all hell will break loose.

I'm not chicken little, I try to be very realistic and so far all my wolf predictions have been correct.

While you describe yourself as realistic and an accurate predictor of wolf impacts - just based on your choices you clearly fall to the other side of the ledger described by this level-headed research scientist quoted in the story below.

This isn't a debate, do you have any input on the progression I've laid out in 1-10?  Were some of the jumps too big? or too small?  Did you vote in the poll?

As for where I put the level of conflict for this region of the NE its factual that WDFW has been removing wolves due to depredation on livestock, so level 5 is a conservative level to put it, and factual.

My prediction about the next 5 years is just that, MY prediction. 
It's purely opinion on my part that within 5 years we'll see the progression from 5 to level 7 (and perhaps higher in some regions of the NE)

In the areas you hunt, what level of wolf conflict do you see Idahnter?

My input was very clear: your progression implies population growth without limits...and that's just not realistic.

As for areas I hunt...that's a lot of areas and they range from zero presence of wolves to areas that have wolves.  As far as impacts of wolves on game where they are present...its naïve to think abundance is easy to estimate and attribute to wolves alone...read the spokesman article as an example.

I live in Pierce County. I know, your condolences are accepted. However I hunt in the Colville area where all the predators are going bonkers. I put down a 1 because there are no documented wolves on the Key Peninsula, unless you count politicians.

That's why I put where you live or hunt   most of us on HW live in urban areas where there aren't any wolves.    I live in the epi center of wolf conflict

I also put 1 at this time for my area and where i hunt,without limits to the population in the near future it could easily go up.

THE NUMBERS HAVE NOT EXPLODED YET BUT WHEN THE NUMBERS ARE NEAR WHERE THEY ARE AT NOW EACH FEMALE PUTTING OUT SAY 6 PUPS EVERY YEAR IS COMPOUNDED.WHEN THE NUMBERS GET TO THE MAGIC POINT WITHOUT LIMITING THEM IT WILL EXPLODE AS THE COYOTE POPULATION HAS.

Well I have hunted here on the west side but it's pretty slim pickins on turkey. Haven't tried deer. In order to maintain the spirit of the poll I've adjusted my vote to reflect the area I hunt the most.

I quit hunting my honey hole of 30+ years in Ferry County mainly due to the amount of predetation on the deer herd from wolves and cougars.

 I picked #2. We have them around but no problems so far. It's only a matter of time. Cougars are the big problem around here right now.
