Got my second one ever this year. Couldn't manage to get out early in the season, but managed to get out and scout a new(ish) area Saturday and Sunday before the opener about 3/4 mile from my last successful season. After 2 days of scouting and heading in the morning of my hunt I had seen zero people, which is already a win for Western Wa. Got in to where I planned to be by about 6:30, had a beautiful sunrise before the clouds and wind picked up making it a bit colder than I had planned. A doe trotted by about 9 which warmed me up a bit, then this guy came in from the other direction about an hour later. I was cold enough from just sitting that I was shaking a little, but it was only a 40 yard shot. After the shot he calmly walked off leaving me confused as to how I could have missed. I could still see him walking for about 30 yards before I lost him in the trees. Decided to wait it out for a bit before checking where he was standing when I shot. After that I realized he wasn't going far and had actually dropped right about where I lost him in the trees.
