Not hunting the leased area with Huntinfool  this year?

Where we are at, north of Choteau the Whitetail are already starting the rut. Saw some very nice shooters yesterday. However I am holding out for a freak I have been watching for past month.

We haven’t had the lease for about 4 years now

Breeding part of the rut by then. What area will you be in?

Heading out on a first ever MT deer hunt solo. I’m planning on leaving the night of 11/15 after work and hopefully get to at least Spokane. Probably just sleep in the cab of the truck for a bit and then push through the next morning. I’ll be hunting 11/16-11/23. Not looking for any monsters, just to have a good time, see some animals and hopefully get a descent buck. Oh and I won’t be in Broadus either. Got some good intel from another member here about a different area to hunt away from the broadus crowds.
So it sounds like driving and glassing is the best strategy huh? I was just marking up my onx with BMA access areas. Most look like walk in only in my area.

The rut isn't on. Pre-rut activities combined with cold weather and snow making them move more and more visible have everyone thinking it's on. It will be the same time frame as every year. Daylight dictates that.

So when would you say that is? We like that week of the 10th. They seem to be really fired up every year.
