Looking for any leads I can get. Plan on starting on NF land east of Greenwater. Did not buy a Hancock permit.

You wont need a hancock pass.  I drew the archery tag a couple of years ago and seen plenty of elk off the 72, if you can run down there and scout it once or twice.  Should be all you need.

Depending on snow, stick around corral pass. noble knob has a road off 72 ( I think)  that gets you very close to the top. Have seen good elk around there. Never been up this late though. Good luck

The most direct road to coral is toast last I heard, but you can hike to it from the 72 side.  I did it once and it is about a 4 mile hike, but not to nasty and all on established trails.

Crystal definitely has some dandy bulls, I’d focus on that area. I’ve spent a lot of time around Wilkeson, Carbonado and yes there’s elk around but idk if I would spend to much time there. There’s elk throughout the entire white but if your looking for a good one go up towards the mountain. I’ve been trying to draw a tag for years. Don’t over look some of the lower areas, some of the bigger bulls will drop down this time of the month, I know that for a fact

How do u hunt the ski area?  I can’t wrap my head around shooting a gun around hikers and people enjoying the resort not to mention gut piles on their slopes?  am I missing something. The areas steep too

You can't hunt on the ski runs. But you can hunt right up to them. And you can glass the country from the parking lot. You can also access that country right from the parking lot. We did to hunt Bullion Basin. And it is steep. Keep in mind that the resort isn't open yet for the ski season. Both the warden and biologist I spoke with gave this location a strong thumbs up and offered explicit areas to hunt there.

Al, go back to the 74 road. Get in there well before daylight and stay until you cannot see. There's bulls in there.

Can't we all just get along?
