I-1639 was able to make it onto the ballot because it was well-funded primarily by anti-gun billionaires and anti-gun organizations.  Almost $5.5 million was contributed to the I-1639 charade with the misleading title of “SAFE SCHOOLS SAFE COMMUNITIES, 2018” ( https://www.pdc.wa.gov/browse/campaign-explorer/committee?filer_id=SAFESS%20194&election_year=2018 ).  According to the NRA-ILA FAQ on I-1639 (https://www.initiative1639.org/faqs/#16- ) “The gun control group behind this initiative spent approximately $3.8 million on signature gathering alone.”  “86% of all contributions were used to pay a firm to obtain signatures to place I-1639 on the ballot. “.

The initiative process is not the grassroots process it was intended to be; it is being abused by well-funded organizations and wealthy people that have specific ideologies they wish to impose on all of us.  For example: Anti-gun, anti-hunting, and anti-trapping ideologies.  The well-funded efforts by these ideological groups and people pay for petition signatures and media propaganda campaigns to further their ideological agendas.

Arizona has taken steps to prevent this abuse by banning pay-per-signature in initiative campaigns.  Washington should ban pay-per-signature in initiative campaigns just as has been successfully done in Arizona.  This keeps anti-gun and anti-hunting organizations and ideological billionaires from abusing the process.

Please read this article and view the bill that the Arizona Governor signed into law in 2017.  In my opinion, any legislator or Governor that opposes such a law is actually supporting the extreme abuses of the Washington State initiative process we have seen multiple times in Washington (i.e. I-1639 and I-594).

“FACT SHEET FOR H.B. 2404”

If we don’t fix the root cause of the abuses of the initiative process, we will continue to have anti-gun, anti-hunting, and anti-trapping laws shoved down our throats by well-funded anti-gun, anti-hunting, and anti-trapping zealots.

If this is gonna happen folks need to get forms and collect signatures. Hunting rights post highlights the fact that an active campaign must be made. The passive signature gathering method is too slow and not big enough.

Finally got this signed.  Some young people were collections signatures in front of Sportsman's warehouse in Everett.  Good to see young people getting involved.  They obviously believed in their cause; not like the mindless mob that was paid by out-of-state billionaires to collect signatures for I-1639.

Get out and support the business that are working to get this repealed.
