Saw a nice 4x4 following a doe yesterday morning, but otherwise nothing.  Saw numerous does over 3 days of hunting in unit 124 with not a buck in sight.

just out of curiosity, where is your place, roughly speaking? Have you had colder temperatures the last few days than those of Spokane?

Thanks for the scouting report Huntn. Late archery looks to be nice with some colder weather and snow heading this way. Good luck out there y’all!

Just got back from GMU 121 near the town of Hunters and saw very little movement. Lots of fresh scrapes in the area but no daylight buck activity and only a few paired up does running around in mid morning. If I had to guess, I'd say the recent mild weather has really put a hamper on activity. Opening day of archery should be great though.

Ditto...A few rubs here and there but no scrapes.  Temps were much colder during the early modern season.  Even the smaller bucks did not seem to have an interest.  I did see quite a few does and several solo mature does but no buck activity.

I guess it just depends on where you're at. The 5 point I killed on Sunday had 7 does with him and his neck was fully swollen!

Around my house south Spokane valley. We always have does around and spikes but we get 3-5 days a year that larger bucks come around the neighborhood.

The 4x4 we got the 14th was just starting to stink, he was with 4 does. I’d pin him at about 3.5 yrs, he was in unit 111. In my experience the rut is really going good during the first week of late muzzy in 113 and the bucks are in lockdown with does after that.

Saw no scrapes in the 113 during the last week. Couple of fresh rubs.

Scrapes are a pre rut deal. Once the full swing of rut starts where bucks are going nuts chasing does they abandon scrapes and traditional run lines . When the rut begins to start winding down bucks will return to scrapes in hopes of finding a hot doe. It’s now the peak rut around here bucks are searching and chasing .

Me and son tagged out in 105 on Monday.  I had been seeing buck on camera, never in shooting light.  Had a doe in field he was heading for 10 minutes left for shooting.  Discovered doe had activated trail cam, got the hit on video.  He was stinking and neck swollen.  Trying for elk next.
