Arrowsmith or fletcher?
« on: November 10, 2019, 12:31:34 PM »
So where do you all get your arrows made up? At the store, have a designated fletcher, buy the prefletched ones, or do it yourself?

I’ve built my own since I was a kid and even plane my own wood ones. Now I’ve bought all my tools except a real crester to build my own woods or carbons and I’m considering opening a side shop building arrows but just dunno how many people use a fletcher? I lost my job and am trying to figure ways to keep cash coming in and this is one of my ideas so far besides wood cutting and being ranch help.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Fletch your own. It’s more rewarding and a lot cheaper. Besides it seems like the only thing shops sell are 3 fletched blazer vanes. It’s nice to buy a bunch of vanes and play around with stuff until you find something that shoots sharp and looks sharp.

Unless you're doing about 10 or more dozen arrows a day, you're not going to make wages to keep yourself in groceries. :twocents:

There is a market out there from the wooden arrows for the Trad guys/gals out there.  That said, you would probably have to build a decent website and push them to get going.  I know one guy in Oregon that does pretty well selling his arrows.
