I don't see why it wouldn't be legal since they legalized the 209 ignition.

I like it.  Same principle as the Ultimate Remington so should be fine?

1. Load your saboted projectile, such as a Smackdown® Carnivore™ bullet, through the muzzle with your ramrod. Push it down the barrel and seat it on the shelf within the barrel. You’ll feel the bullet stop with resistance. This provides a consistent starting point every time.

 

2.  Break open the action on the NitroFire™ with the release button located near the trigger guard and insert the Federal Premium® Firestick™ into the breech area.

Do the firesticks come in different size powder charges and do you have to use the firesticks or can you use loose powder?

Only 100 and 120 gr options right now.  Suppose you could reload your own sticks like the Remington.  My concern would be that you can only seat bullet to shelf not top of powder so not sure what leaving a gap does or how much gap is ok.   The 120 may be max for Vortek rifle this is designed for but suspect other heavier rifles will follow.

I never did get on the pre charged pellet thing now the firesticks what if my gun and load shot best with85 grns or maybe 130 that's the fun is finding that sweet spot but I guess if all you do is hunt for 2 weeks then put it up that would be what you want

Maybe you have to shoot their recommended ammo also for best groups?  Or tinker with ammo vs powder?   But how many muzzle loaders vary their load anyway?  Muzzy is probably like modern rifles where 90% (?) shoot factory ammo and thats plenty good enough ?

Interesting concept, but not a fan.

It seems like the technology creep into "primitive weapon" categories has accelerated in the last dozen years.  But I like to shoot lead conicals out of a side hammer rifled barrel instead of pebbles out of a blunderbuss, so I suppose I also fall prey to the temptation of tech creep.  I'm just about a century behind the new developments

Seems like the "NEW" "Muzzleloaders" are starting to resemble break action 45-70 CF rifles. This new version stops just short of a loaded metallic cartridge. The designer stopped just shy of having the bullet loaded into the case.  Man I hope Wa lets us start using BPCR in our muzzleloader seasons .

Looks more like a Schutzen rifle where the bullet is seated independently with a tool (albeit from the breech instead of the muzzle) and the charged case is inserted in the breech.
