What I really enjoy is when you buy a vehicle and you have to pay 10% of what they consider the market value to transfer title
$1700 on the HD I traded a car for
And gross weight fees on 1/2 ton burban that’s 25 years old and still runs over a 100 bucks for tabs
Throw in $70 for a basic utility trailer
2 newer Toyota’s mine and wife’s about $240 combined
Boat and trailer around $125 combined
And about $87 for the RV
2 discovery passes 50-60 bucks
Such a good deal in this frickin state

Oh this one pisses me off the most. Switch and bait. But I have a loophole for anyone with a vehicle weighing over 6,000lb.

Per state law, if your vehicle is over 6,000lb it is considered an agricultural vehicle. exempt from RTA tax.

I have a 2017 Ram 1/2ton. Got it weighed at Randall sand and gravel on canyon rd in Puyallup. It weighed 6,200lb. Got my certified weight certificate for $20, marched my happy butt to DOL and renewed my tabs for $105!!!! It was supposed to be $575. I walked out of there with a $470 savings and a feeling like I won the lottery.

Do it! You will save a lot of $$. Find a certified scale in your area and save $.

That's awesome! Good on you. Should we make a pool on how long it takes them to get rid of that this year?

A friend did this with his truck.  Put a canopy top on it.  filled with gas maybe a few sand bags and got it weighed.  Then got the reduced amount for his tabs.

Was going to try this for my 2018 gmc sierra and try to reduce the 640 $ tab fee  :bash: :bash: in king county. Truck, canopy, full tank of gas and a little something something in the bed  :dunno:   6,140 lbs  :IBCOOL: :chuckle: :chuckle:. Than called DMV they said it is based on the manufacturers dry weight and does not include aftermarket accessories IE- canopys, heavy duty front or rear bumpers or the like. So i'm not sure how this is going to work ??? i wish it would i'm not paying 500 RTA tax for something i,ll never even use they wanna ride it make them pay  :yike: :hello: :bash:. I'll just tab it at my buddy's house outside of king county  :chuckle:  Eat that RTA tax   LOL

Cheap tabs were one of the benefits of driving a newer diesel.

Here’s a free way to get out. Change address of location on registration (free online) to an address where it isn’t affected (buddy or family members house). Keep mailing address your current address so you receive your tab notices. Boom no bs for free. Car salesman told me this. However I live in an area where in don’t get hasseled anymore   :IBCOOL:
