SESRC wildlife survey
« on: February 27, 2020, 07:22:28 PM »

Did anyone else receive this survey ?  Is this group pro hunting?  How is it related to WDFW?

Some of the email:

The Social & Economic Sciences Research Center (SESRC) at WSU is implementing this survey on behalf of WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine. If you have any questions about the survey, please contact the SESRC Wildlife Survey Project Team at SESRC.Wildlife@wsu.edu, or call 1-800-833-0867 and indicate you are calling about the Wildlife Management Survey.

Yes, I received it as well as a hunting buddy and nephew . It appears to be related to hoof rot research .

I did the survey, it was as pretty interesting.  It seems WSU will be making some change recommendations soon. It didn’t seem they were affiliated with WDFW but there was a few questions about how much you trust WDFW and such

They will use that survey to draw conclusions to meet their agenda, what ever it be, otherwise it would have been straight forward questions instead of beat around the bush questions that are open to interpretation.  I took it and tried to answer safely and honestly but there were too many sneaky questions that offered no reasonable answer.......I smell a rat.

I filled it out today.  Took 15-20 minutes.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Call me skeptical but I am curious what they are asking.

I received it and took it as well.  Lots of questions about information and trust and I think we can all guess how I ranked the department.  I don't like how it forced you to input something for race and income, most surveys allow you to opt out of that.  So, I put "American" in for my race.

It's hard to tell what they are looking to get out of it, my guess would be insight on the best ways to get information on their research out and the societal importance of finding a solution to hoof rot.  Guessing further, it sounds like they may be questioning whether giving the research results to WDFW and hoping they do the right and effective thing may not be working too well, but that's a big guess on my part.

I was getting a little hint of relocation of wolves to hoof rot areas for clean up.

Yeah, they had that as well as increased tags/longer seasons, do nothing and have WDFW shoot them.

I took it and it definitely was suggesting the introduction wolves. I also added a comment at the asking them to concider the consequences that several other states are dealing with. Everyone should take it and let WDFW know what we as hunters are asking for.

Like I said in the Campfire section on this topic, let them have it in the comment section on your thoughts with wolves!

Its never been about anything but wolves chewing ungulates to the point of protecting them (ungulates) by ending hunting.  Then they can get serious about collecting guns that no one needs.

I filled it out yesterday as well.  In the comments at the end I didn’t limit it to wolves, I stated how they have mismanaged predators as a whole.

I marked every question regarding trust of WDFW a no, I do NOT trust them. Don’t recall the exact wording for the answers.

It did seems as they were fishing in one part of it to use predators to eliminate the hoof rot issue.
