Palouse Whitetail special permit - any help?
« on: October 30, 2007, 12:22:06 PM »
Hey ya'll, I drew a special permit for the Palouse for Whitetail (GMUs 127-142).  I have permission to hunt a couple of farms in the Colfax/Almota area and I plan to hit them in the second week of my hunt.

However I wanted to spend sometime ideally around Mica Peak (127) or south of Lake Roosevelt (133 & 136) in the first week.  Anyone offer any advice on either public lands or contacts for the area?

Appreciate any help!

Sorry, I can't help you with your first week plans. But, if you havn't tagged out and end up hunting the Palouse, I can put you on a couple of spots to fill your tag.  I grew up farming in the Pullman/Colfax area, and I have a lot of farming contacts.  Just PM, me.  Good Luck!

I'm pretty sure all of Mica is pretty much private, but a huge portion is owned by Inland Empire Paper.  You can get a 3 day permit to hunt their land for $10 I think.  I was actually thinking of going up there or the E. Side of Mt Spokane (also IEP land) for late buck myself.  I haven't hunted it, but heard there are alot of deer in there.  Here is a link with some info and where you can buy the permits, just scroll down to 127.  Good Luck.
