Buying guns during “shelter in place”
« on: March 24, 2020, 06:30:14 PM »
Question for you guys (particularly interested in hearing from ffl folks)...

Is there any way to buy firearms when everything’s shut down, other than ordering an 80% kit?

I was in the market for a couple of things before this all went down, and now I’m not sure if I should just hold-off until god knows when, or if I can get creative...

From the sound of it, about 98% of businesses are essential.

Anybody that sells food stays open. Bimart indeed. Surprised the gun stores don’t set up a vending machine or sell some jerky. Even cabelas sells “food”.

I talked to a local shop today and she said they plan on staying open until somebody comes and tells them to shut the doors. Her perspective is that self defense is an "essential service".

Bi-Mart, huh? I don’t think I’ve ever been into one...good selection of handguns?

It’s a lot more than just food to be considered essential. I agree with what was said above. Like 90% of stores get to stay open during this.

Should have had it already. Lesson learned.

I just checked Cabelas webpage and it looks like they are open.  I wouldn't exactly suggest going there, but if they are open than other places are as well.  If it were me, I would find as small a shop as I could for many reasons.  If Cabelas is open, there will be plenty of friends in close proximity waiting hours for their number to be pulled.

Skagit arms closed down today to deep clean and restock, and plan to reopen tomorrow unless something has changed today.

I looked at the tulalip website today out of curiosity and it showed it was closed.

Well i got to chuckle at all this. If you are waiting to buy a firearm now your likely the kind of person that voted for all our BS gun laws.
I purchased some ammo on slae at Bi mart a couple of weeks ago. they had bulk 22lr, 38spl, 9mm, 556 on sale for VERY reasonable prices. Think I paid $35 for 1k 22lr rounds. I learned my lesson and will never be short on ammo again. hopefully all the Noobs will have an epiphany... Perhaps not because they were all surprised their Teslas were taxed heavy...

Hey now, I'm waiting on a rifle to get here so I can wait a ridiculous amount of time for it to get released to me. I took me a couple tries to find a shop that would take an inbound transfer right now. :bash:

Now if I can just find a good source for ammo. Do you think Walmart will have any 22x47 Lapua ammo in stock? :chuckle:

I was supposed to get my encore on Wednesday, before the shop closed as nonessential. They ordered the wrong part. Bah!  I did score a pre-panic priced lower that I think I am going to turn into a 9mm PCC.

I feel for a gun nut, but if you look at some of the FB gun groups several of the Gun shops have had to educate those ignorant how thier votes worked.  Wades Gun Shop sold over 170 shotguns in 72 hours.  You cant find buckshot anywhere. WTF are you gonna do with bird shot? I think some level of disdain is appropriate considering how all high and mighty many of these folks have been. Their level of psychological comfort is none of my concern. Lets hope they learn the lesson I did. Keep the guns and stack up the ammo.

There is a lot of speculation on different firearm blogs that the used firearm market is going to be pretty robust in the next 6-12 months.  Alot of buyers remorse might be creeping in perhaps?

I just picked up a new to me rifle yesterday horse trading, 338 rum and 200 rounds. I think if your looking to get guns or ammo now your going to get the short end of the stick.

I heard that the 1st question after needing a 10 day waiting period for pistols and semi autos was... what can i leave with TODAY!

The only gun I would be looking for in the potential great deals is a SBE 3 in Left hand... Kind of shooting for the moon on that, but you never know!

Seems like online checks go a LOT faster, especially during off hours

I am more than willing to hold a few guns in a safe and donate some $ for the cause... provided they meet certain criteria!  :chuckle:
