Kodiak Canvas flex bow
« on: April 16, 2020, 12:49:37 PM »
Hey there guys,
So I just ordered a Kodiak Canvas flex bow deluxe in the 10x14 model.. it’s for me and my brother and from time to time a 3rd guy.. haven’t received it yet, but it’s on the way.. Anybody on here have one? Any tips and tricks? Pros/cons? Thanks for any insight on this tent. Really looking forward to trying it out.

Nice tent.

Me and my hunting partner each have one, we love them. That being said I think 2 people is perfect, 3 gets a little bit crowded if it’s for more than a night or 2!

I have the 10x10 and love it. I can sleep two with cots ok. The ground tarp and floor liner are worth the investment. Definitely going to want new stakes. I have a camp trailer, but use this on shorter trips.

I bought one and love it.  I bought the vestibule and am very happy with it.  It allows me to set up cooking stuff under cover as well as store totes and other gear to help clean out the inside.  Couple things I did to make sure mine stays in great shape;

1.  I always lay a poly tarp on the ground before putting the flex bow up.
2.  I bought a light weight canvas tarp for the inside to protect the floor in the flexbow.  The flexbow floor is crazy durable....but a relatively cheap canvas tarp will guarantee I don't burn or tear a whole in it.
3.  We fit three people in ours last spring with cots and it was OK.  Two is optimal for longer hunts.  With two you can set up two little tables and chairs next to your cots and be very comfortable.
4.  I bought a big buddy heater that is run off a large propane tank that sits under the vestibule.  It works pretty amazing and heats that tent up pretty darn quick.
5.  Sturdy stakes are a must....but that is the standard on any new tent now days.

Here are a few pics...

Jrebel how do you like that vestibule??

I've got a 10x14 and I love it. It's the perfect size for car camping with my wife and our young son to camp really deluxe, or for 2 guys with cots and gear for hunting

Three people I'd probably ditch the cots for more room, but they really are outstanding tents. Mines taken some serious rain and wind and never faltered

How does that vestibule handle in the wind?

I love the vestibule and it appears to be made very well.  From a design standpoint, I would have designed it a little different as for attaching to the top bar.....but hey, it works!!  It is not made for very tall people, I am 6 foot tall and have to crouch just a little to get under it.  It works great for storage and a shady area to sit in the hot season.

We didn't really have wind in Idaho last year for our spring bear hunt.  When I set it up here in Wenatchee it did really well as long as you used good stakes.  The stakes it came with came loos and the wings would flap in the wind.  Again....buy some good stakes and it should hold up well.

I love my 10x14. Nice and roomy for two with cots. I had a local canvas tent maker sew in a stove jack. I can put up and tear down myself in no time!

Could anyone compare this to the Cabelas Alaskan guide geodesic?

Not trying to hijack; my guide got destroyed by a bear last year so I’m in the market.  :hello:

Have the same tent and used it for 3 deer seasons and 1 elk season in UT.  Use a Vent free propane heater for heat and keeps it toasty warm. First der season had to break camp and haul butt out of the woods because snow was felling trees had over a foot on the ground and tent didn't give any problems. Elk hunting the temps dropped into single digits and was still toasty warm inside, be sure to close the vents. Have had 3 adults and gear in it without being overly cramped for space , yea needs some reconfiguring of sleeping cots but is not a problem
Think You'll really enjoy how fast and easy it goes up with only one person.

To repeat what jingles and wolfdog2314 said, it goes up so fast and easy for one person. Great for setting up for a family trip or in a storm (as long as your not trying to drive stakes in a riverbed!)

Awesome!! Thanks for all the great feedback! I read some reviews and watched some YouTube videos about it before I decided to purchase one. Just good to hear actual users have good things to say.. should be here Wednesday and I’m going to set it up over the weekend to check it all out. Thanks again everyone!
