By 6:30 I had hens coming by me on the trail I had set up on. They were roosted in the pines up at the top of the ridge and coming down the draw to the small creek in the bottom. One of them actually had a beard that was a few inches long but I passed as I could hear the gobbler going nuts still up on top of the hill. I let out a few calls and he was coming fast. Soon he was on top of me but had worked around me. Before I new it he was right next to me so close I couldn’t even raise my gun. I let him walk past and get to about 15 yards before I let him have it. He was Missing feathers on his stomach from breeding and had a broken toe

Had my chance this morning. Had a lone tom get hung up at 60 yards behind a bunch of brush. Had him hammering away for over half an hour, then he got nervous and left. Too much brush to shoot but enough to watch him strut.

Just like my elk season :(

This was back on opening day for us in Idaho. I didn’t post because I didn’t want to be a *censored* but my boys and I were done by 7am. Great times.

Thanks for not posting those Idaho pics till today. Nice birds guys. There were a fair number of people out parked at all the gates and pull outs. More than I expected for mid week but I suppose most of them aren’t working now so weekends probably won’t be any busier
