Bear bows any good?

Are bear bows any good? Not looking to spend a ton of money and cabelas has one on sale for 249, regular 349. I don’t archery hunt a lot but would like to get something newer than what I have.

Is it a package or bare bow? Personally, I feel that you get what you pay for. I would buy a nice used bow for a few bucks more than a cheap new one. Check out the classifieds on Archerytalk.com. You could probably find a pretty good deal on a nice set up package used if you get your specs all measured out and have some patience. From my own experience, my first bow was a ready to hunt package and I quickly spent more $ replacing the cheap accessories that came with it and eventually more $ on a better bow. Buy once, cry once!

I have a bear anarchy hc, bought right sfter carpsniper sold his, i love it. If i ever need another bow, ill look at bears first for sure.

Still have my first Bear bow. It came in a package from Cabelas for like $400 (like 8 years ago). It would therefore be one of their cheaper models if not the cheapest. However, it killed deer just like any other bow, never had any problems and still doesn't. I think the style of grip really works well for some hands too.

I've owned a couple and bought one for a kid I was mentoring. Nothing wrong with a Bear bow. Now the kid, that's another story.

Bear bows are good, but my personal preference is Hoyt.

I second buying used if you can find something to fit your needs.  The leatherwall has some absolute bargains if you are looking for a nice stickbow. http://leatherwall.bowsite.com/tf/lw/CLASSIFIEDS.CFM  Some folks own a ton of bows and trade/sell often, so you can find something basically new for half what you would pay normally.  I shoot a Predator takedown recurve which is a Bear Kodiak-Styled bow with take down limbs made in Michigan.  They are lightning-fast, smooth drawing bows which don't stack.  I can't recommend them highly enough.

I've probably got close to 50,000 arrows shot out of my fifteen year old bear instinct. It's not the fanciest bow, but it puts arrows where I want them to go. Bought my wife a new bow last year and it's alot nicer than mine so I may finally upgrade soon but not in any real rush. I'd buy one again thats for sure.
