Wednesday morning crowinghen had this nice fat doe walk less than 10 yards under her tree stand, she did not go 20 yards before expiring. After a tough couple months of bear hunting she was so happy to get her deer.

Thanks Sabotloader!
He was at 50 yards (added that to post). I was seated, shooting from sticks, and uphill at about a 15 degree slope. I can usually get a 2" group under those conditions, so I wasn't worried about hitting him well. Since he was quartering to me, I did damage some meat/bone in the front left quarter, but the bullet exited through the rear margin of the right lung- thus a solid double-lung harvest.
And to everyone thus far- nice deer! Great stories, great photos.

Hubby (justyhntr) and I had set up a tree stand months ago . The first chance we had to deer hunt was Wednesday, I got up in the tree before light, Hubby walked to another area to hunt. Something left in a hurry to my left ( the direction I expected the deer to be) before it got light. I heard some rustling for a long time to my right, so I adjusted my seat and swung around getting ready in case something came in from that direction. It got pretty quiet for a little bit, then the rustling got closer and closer. All of a sudden this doe and I think last year's fawn work their way up the trail out in the open. She nibbled some browse and came around some brush, she was angled slightly away from me. I picked a spot by her front shoulder and squeezed off the trigger. She took of to the right and behind me, I heard some crashing and then it got quiet. I glassed but didn't see any blood, but I couldn't imagine I had not gotten her at that range( about 10 yards or less) So Hubby came over and we walked about 15 yards and there she was- no blood at all. Bullet went in right behind the front rt shoulder, through both lungs and the top of the stomach- her insides were all filled up with blood, but the grass/browse had blocked the exit hole. there was an area about the size of my fist blown through her ribcage. She was a big pretty old doe. Super happy to get something for the freezer this year!
