Blacktail vs 168 grain berger
« on: October 23, 2020, 03:19:23 PM »
Well sad to report I notched my tag.  Little forkie needed a new home.  426 yard shot out of the 7 Rem mag and a 168 berger put him down instantly.  Time to scout a little for late muzzy elk.

Congrats!  Great long shot.

Yeah longest shot I had made prior to this was 360ish.  Conditions were perfect for this one.  Deer wouldn't stay still but I had time to get prone, and get in the zone.  Was hunting a new area, so it was nice to get one on the ground.  Swore I was going to hold out for a solid 3 or better, but you know how that goes.

Nice shooting!! Nice buck! Nothing wrong with taking a legal deer when the opportunity feels right.
