Interesting. So 15 tribal tags and ten state draw tags and potentially a couple raffle tag hunter could be hunting that area.. It is a big area but with lower moose numbers the last few years I can see why some guys don't kill moose some years.. I assume those tribal tags go to tribal members only ?
I'm not sure about a dwindling population of moose, but when I had my tag up there in 2015, a big chunk of 204, about 3/4 of 101, and a little of 105 were shut down for fires that burned over a million acres of ground. I would think by now the young trees that make up a good portion of what moose eat should be growing really well and providing great feed. Also, the open areas due to those fires should give some good spotting too. The success rate's been pretty good every year, so I'd guess it should be good this year too. I know i'd give my left you-know-what to have another moose permit in my pocket this year!
Lonedave I might have to scrounge up a new moose call.
