No Bird for me
« on: April 19, 2009, 06:48:03 AM »
Well got back yesterday, spent a lot of time up in the colville region.

Got there last Sunday did a lot of walking, talked to some birds, could not get them to go. Opening day had a few hens and a Jake coming into the decoy's was only about 150 yards from road and had an individual pull up in front mf my truck and get out and look at the birds that were in the field about 80 yards from the decoy's watched him start grabbing all his gear so I turned towards him and flashed my headlamp at him. He gets back in his truck slams the door and takes off spinning his tires. So no bird there.

Thursday was just a heck of a lot of walking, found a nice white tail shed, 7 points on one side. Seen 4 different bears, 3 moose and the most deer I have seen in a long time over there.

Friday got in to a new area I had found Thursday night, seen some birds go up a little finger so snuck in got set up, heard the birds gobble in the morning, sounded like two tom's and a couple of jake's and a heck of a lot of hens. Anyway's they hit the ground and wanted nothing to do with my calling and took off the other way.

Overall was a good hunt, there was a lot of snow but it felt good to get out there and be by myself for a couple of day's.

Going to try and get back over there the 8-9-10 of May and try it again.
