Every time I see one of these Super Expensive rigs on the road, the brand doesn't matter. I get a great laugh and it makes me happy to see people so clueless...PT Barnum was right. All that money for basic transportation and the pumping up of Ego. WOW.  :chuckle:

:chuckle:
Insulting people because they buy new cars.  That’s neat.

So, anyone that spends more money on a car than you do is clueless and an egomaniac?  But they're the clueless ones?

Got it.

Local dealer has a new Bronco Raptor they just got in so I had the opportunity to look it all over.  It definitely has a cool looking stance to it and sitting next to a regular Bronco the Bronco Raptor is obvious but no friggen way was it 40 grand over MSRP cool.  I only stopped to look at it so the crazy 40K over MSRP asking price didn't matter to me and I understand these things are very limited production but 40 over MSRP seems more than a little crazy to me.

I want to know where these people work that have zero problem overpaying by 40k for an item that depreciates the moment you sign the papers! :yike:
If anyone knows of a job opening please let me know!
Doesn’t depreciate as much as one would think in the current market. But 2,3,4 years down the road? There quite possibly be more repo then the industry has ever seen along with never being able to trade out of your vehicle due to being so flipped in equity…
2nd sticker will ultimately hurt the industry.

2nd sticker has been having a real long run so far without hurting the industry. I'd be more worried about diminishing quality and the ever increasing emission standards choking down efficiency than second sticker.

Well, I'm not sure. Need and Want are two different animals. I see the current pricing craziness, and choose Not to participate, although I am in the market for another vehicle.  I'm trying to make a point about the Insanity of Dealership (Stealership)  Mark Ups, and people are getting offended.
:dunno:

To Me, and this is the Big Issue here, My View, is that over the years I have purchased 6 brand New vehicles from different dealerships. And I think that's OK for someone who wants/needs a New Vehicle, your debt, your choice. But what I find Extremely Hilarious are the people who buy "Transportation" at Uber Inflated Prices. I'm not talking about special needs or business needs. Sure it's all Hype, and I can understand some of that. But to pay many to tens of thousands of dollars over an already inflated MSRP price is, ridiculous. And for what? Bragging Rights...  :twocents:

I think it all depends on where you want to spend your money.

I hate golf and would never spend what my bro-in-law spend on it.
But he loves it.

He'd never spend what I spend on hunting/fishing/shooting.

But he gets real pleasure out of driving nice cars.

I don't think it's bragging rights.
I think it's adult choices.

The new fancy bronco and other expensive vehicles are like rifles. I'm laughing at all of you who spend money on your fancy expensive rifles. Everyone should shoot a model 70 308 like me and if yours is slicker or more expensive or shinier or newer then I'm smarter than you  :chuckle:

I like where this thread is going.     OK, who here Knows About Auto Financing? If a person walks into a Stealership and says I want the latest, newest "Rolls-CanHardly" on the lot, or web site, and I'm willing to pay what ever the price is. How Is That Financed? Looking at these Over Priced Four Wheel Boxes of Transportation, how does the average  person pay for it.  Will a Bank Loan the full over inflated retail Stealership Price? Or is this like a Mortgage? Paying Only the appraised Value? I needs to know.

Spoiler alert,...2 Zardoz questions may be coming soon..

I bought my Frontier in April 2019 for $15K. In 2021 an identical Frontier with 10k more miles was selling for $25k and was gone in a couple days.  :yike:

The "used car" prices skyrocketed. Partially because the new cars had parts shortages, but mostly because of opportunity and greed. The weird part, is people were buying them like crazy!

My wife and I discussed whether I should sell my truck, and sit on the money for a couple years then get another one.  :dunno: who doesn't want to make a quick $10K  :chuckle:

I didn't because I have spent the last couple years making it my truck, the way I want it. I don't want to start over unless I have to. Plus I would have to share her vehicle and she gets ornery when I have to adjust the mirrors and seat.  :hello:

My wife's ex, is one of those who has to have the best of everything, and he loves to tell everyone about it. He had a Mercedes GLS SUV that was a year old. His wife decided she wanted one, so they traded his in and bought two identical fully loaded GLSs so they could be twinsees

Some people just have what I call "stupid money"  :chuckle:

True...Or they pay cash.
Zardoz...Why is this so hard to understand?

I still feel sorry for the sucker that bought my 2006 Tacoma with the rusted frame and 186k miles. Who in the world thinks that it was worth $13k wholesale in 2017?

I and PT Barnum agree.. :chuckle:

Why? Well, I grew up very poor. Still am-ish today. Almost all my financial grief over the years have been because of  my wives.(don't laugh, some of you know exactly what I'm talking about).  I will admit, I have made several poor financial decisions over the years. But also, some good ones. Retired at 55, You?  Being somewhat older and slightly more wise, I see things from a different perspective now. Trying to put some Hard Knocks Experience out there for the younger guys/gals, so they can avoid some of the same TRAPS I/We fell for. And I really like to challenge the "Consumer Narrative" these days.  :twocents:

I don't know, looking at the prices of trucks now it'd be hard to get what I need just to be functional for less than 80k, let alone some of what I think it needs to be comfortable. But I suppose to your point that's not a small part of why I'm driving an almost 20 year old truck with 300k miles.
