Best states to build youth points?
« on: January 31, 2021, 06:21:04 PM »
Wondering what states are best for putting kids in for youth hunts? Have a six year old that has passed hunter safety in Wa, haven’t found another state that you can start putting in that young.

Depends on what you want to hunt and how much money you have.  GoHunt has info for many states on their youth program and obviously not all states use points.

Def Wyoming!  Points are only 10 each and if I remember right, their deer and antelope licenses are just $110 each for youth non res.  Also Wyoming considers youth all the way until they are 18 not like Washington where 16 is used.

 :yeah:

Took my boys on a G hunt along with a nephew in their teens & it was a special trip. I would build both antelope & deer points both & split them into two separate trips.

Wyoming doesn't allow you to get a license or points for big game until the year they turn 12. As stated above, they consider a youth until 18.
A thought to consider. You start building points for Wyoming  and share/split them with your child by applying as a party.

New Mexico doesn’t have points but they do have youth hunts. Does Arizona have a minimum age?
