The whole point of doing keto is to keep your insulin level low by not eating carbohydrates. At least that's why I do it.

Keto makes it easier, if you're adjusted to carbs and sugar, starches you'll get a crushing urge to eat and feel sick if you skip a meal or two.

With keto, you're already adjusted to burning fat and consuming ketones for energy, so entering a fast you'll feel a bit hollow inside your gut, a nagging sensation to eat, but its not a crushing crash nor do you feel sick and want to die if you skip a meal or 20.

I did 22 hours yesterday and decided to eat, not wanting to go from eating regularly to fasting skipping OMAD,  so I'll adjust to OMAD then dabble into prolonged fasting.

Nice thing is its free, no program or BS to follow, just eat 70% fat, 25% protien and less than 5% carbs

but I'm trying to focus on 70/30 with 0% carbs

I'm doing a 2 hour eating window now, eat a big meal at 6pm and by 8pm nothing but water.

I'll do a week of that and see what the scale says.

Good answer. I could never do the fasting if I wasn't already doing keto.

It fixes metabolic disorders or at least makes them much better.  Usually really fast.

Plus, what is balanced?  That really has no meaning in my mind.  Keto seems balanced to me but not my wife for example.

I view carbs like dairy, some do fine and some people can’t deal well.

Balanced to me is one that covers both macro and micronutrient needs efficiently. Processed foods and added sugars are garbage for anyone but for me, quality carb sources are important to my training and performance goals.

Your body doesn't need any carbs at all. That's the lie they've been telling us for decades and it's the reason so many people are getting diabetes and other metabolic issues these days.

Pretty interesting considering almost all high level athletes don't have diabetes or metabolic issues yet vast majority consume a significant amount of carbs. Like I said earlier, whatever people want to do that works for them is great because it means they are taking their health seriously. The demonization of carbs is patently false though.

It is the over consumption of carbs, especially processed carbs with added sugars, along with lack of physical activity that leads to many of the health issues our society faces.

It sounds like you don't have any metabolic disorders, are already lean, and working out a lot.

You could keto, but why?

Not sure you need to nor woukd get much benefit from it.

Fasting you could get 3-400% growth hormone boost and get ripped and gain muscle, if that was your goal.

Check out this chick,

OMAD (one meal a day)
1700 calories high fat, low carbs
Plus exercise

But we don't need carbs. That's the lie I'm talking about. If you look at the food pyramid, it's completely wrong.

Here's a video from a guy I watch regularly:

True we don't need it, but it doesn't need to be demonized if its clean and the person isn't trying to cure a metabolic disorder.

I been watching that guy too

Yeah, but I'm just trying to get the point across that carbs aren't needed, because many people are under the impression that we can't live without carbs. I always thought that. Until just recently in the last few months when I began researching and got more educated on the subject. If only I would have known all this 20 years ago.

People can live without a lot of things but that doesn't mean some of those things don't add value.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. That's completely wrong information. In my opinion. But for a person who exercises regularly and especially if they're relatively young, then eating a high carb diet is fine. But a low carb, high fat diet would probably still be better.
