Big fan of keto. Been on and off strict keto for years with great results. Lot of good information here, but I'll add some thoughts on the less discussed topics.

For those interested in a resource, I've enjoyed following Dr. Daniel Pompa. He has a book called Beyond Fasting that incorporates keto, diet variation, intermittent fasting, feast/famine cycling, and extended fasting. Some of these techniques were mention earlier in this thread. He's also on YouTube.

Mentioned but not discussed is the importance of autophagy. Simply put, autophagy eats/removes "bad" cellular debris. Bad cells can lead to all sorts of health problems. Cellular renewal happens when bad cells are removed and new cells produced. Plenty of testimonies out there on old injuries/issues being healed through higher levels of autophagy.

Not mentioned, but I've found using a glucose/ketone meter helpful in tracking my glucose ketone index (GKI). That's a fancy term for level of ketosis. I can tell which foods help, which ones hurt, and how much of something I can have specific to me and my diet. I use the Keto-Mojo brand - no affiliation. I've learned that for me after three days of fasting my body goes into serious ketosis. Your mileage may vary.

Coincidentally to this thread, I happen to be going into day four of a fast. Current GKI levels are 0.7, which anything <1 is often defined as the highest level of therapeutic ketosis. I have a recent injury I'm going to help the healing process.

Great thread...  I will add I dont really believe in "diets".  I never have done diet thing.  Keto I do not consider a "diet".  Keto to me is a lifestyle choice.  A natural way to live so to speak.  I think biologicaly we are a keto type species much like many animals are as well.  A Bear for example.  There is a reason we have a liver to do Keto.  imop.

I will say KC's razor clam chowder is just fine minus the potatoes.  It's also not horrible if you substitute squid and/or salmon or anything you need to clear out of the pantry or freezer.  I forgot I canned up a large pile of pinks last run and wanted to get through them before this season and the chowder was by far the best way out of probably a dozen recipes I tried.

Down 20 lbs without even trying real hard last 5 weeks. Did this same thing last year and lost 55lbs from jan-jun.   cut carbs and sugars and you are golden.  Keto is pretty simple to follow and you feel so much better.  No acid reflux, no bloating, lots of energy.

My go to is just about any meat and greens cooked on my Traeger...
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Found Keto Hamburger buns and loaf bread at walmart, alittle pricey at 5.00 for each but what a game changer. I really can't tell a difference.

 5-7 weeks you will be there.  4-6lb weekly loss is my experiences.  I did 18lb in 3 weeks last year.   FYI  Keto hamburger buns taste better than keto bread imop.
