Hello,I normally use Delo oil from Costco. Now they carry Kirkland brand oil. Just curious about your opinions. Thanks for your input.Fliesitdies
Shell Rotella T6!
I bet I get flamed for this... The oil marketing guys have really gotten into everybody's head. Bottom line is - find an oil that matches or exceeds the API spec's required by your engine (CJ-4, etc.), and change it regularly. If it is a diesel from pre-2004, you may choose to add an additive that restores the sulpher available in oil back then that isn't there now - but unless you're running that engine at a high load all the time, it probably won't make a difference.I use whatever I can get at the right price for my diesel engines on my boat and change it every 300 hours. Delo 400, Mobil, or even the Napa brand bulk barrel I can get up here in Sitka. 17,000 hours on the main and 25,000 hours on the genset, still running strong. I'm a little pickier for my 6.0 due to the HPOP and injectors, but still just run basic dino oil. Haven't had an oil-related issue on that truck in 160K.Find the right grade and API spec of oil for your engine, and change it. You'll be fine.

Delo in mine for 540k+ miles.
As a diesel mechanic, I use almost exclusively Delo with the exception being if the parts supplier offers manufacture branded oil for when the engine is still newish/under warranty With the exception of caterpillar which retella is recommended I almost exclusively use Delo 15w40 unless specified then it’s either Delo 100 40wt or Delo 400 40wt or 30wt

I switched to T6 when costco stopped selling DELO, and it costs me about $21 more per oil change, not significant it it is a better oil.
