We used to joke that Clear Lake became the 3rd largest city in Thurston County on opening weekend. Now that it (and most others) have gone "mixed species" and/or year 'round there really isn't much point to being there on the opener. It was a pretty fun event, imo.

Before the bass and perch started showing it was a quality trout water.

When the resort closed, I quit going.

Yeah, it was some really good quality trout fishing 

They used to fry plant it and the fish were really good quality. Anymore it just gets the standard catchable plants.

Don't get me wrong, when the bass started showing I was happy to see them..
It was the milfoil and weeds that silted the bottom and changed the lake..

Was clear out to 25-30 feet on a sunny day...
