Yes, there is but it’s still going to be a challenge when hunting time comes.

The locals have the advantage, but with the draw there are hard to get.🤬

:dunno:
This will likely be the same as  the skagit hunt it replaced.

Expand on that? 🤔 It’s the whole Sauk unit now, not just a certain area.

Should be an awesome tag now that it’s the whole unit. My bet is most people will still try and get a valley bull.
People get offended at nothing at all. So, speak your mind and be unapologetic.

There are a few pocket populations outside of the previous hunt.  The majority are still in the previous damage area. Those pocket populations have far fewer bulls in them regardless of metric used (i.e. age class, number, ratio). Are there bulls outside the valley? Absolutely! Even a few big bulls but the numbers are lower.  Also the numbers of big bulls are way down in both the Sauk and Nooksack.

I was considering putting in for the permit since I live on the Oso side of the unit, but only seeing 1 here, 2 there (not in the fall months) and a lot of territory between skagit and stilly side I thought better of it. I think the skagit side will have advantage with this tag for now.

I drew it. Timing is not turning out to be great with some other irons I have in the fire, so still thinking over my options.

I was lucky enough to draw Archery with 18 points.
Haven’t been there for a few years. But I have scouted and helped other hunters there in the past.
I am extremely excited for the opportunity to hunt with a tag this year.
I will be there the whole season if needed.
Any helpful tips in the form of a PM would be greatly appreciated.
Good luck to all in the upcoming hunting seasons!
John

Hope it all works out for you.
What weapon tag did you draw?
