New Reel?
« on: June 14, 2021, 01:10:50 PM »
I have been looking for a new reel made in the USA, North America, Europe or Japan.  I have a nice made in Sweden reel for Salmon but want to find a nice low profile casting reel and a good spinning reel possibly too.  Is there anything out there anymore?  It seems like everything has moved to China.

Thanks,

Curt

Not sure if they make spinning reels but I have been very pleased with all my Avets and Penns.  Shimano and Daiwa have been solid for me as well, some for a very long time.

For the price I am pleased with the quality. I compare it to the ci4+

Lew's reels are made in the USA and are very smooth, good quality, and well priced  They make great low profile baitcasters. I have never tried their spinners.

Shimano is made in Japan and are the go-to for sure. Shimano Curado is a great low profile baitcaster for the price. The Chronarch is an upgrade. The Stradic CI4+, NASCI, or Sahara are great spinners.

I’m pretty sure lews reels are made in Korea and China.

I have switched over to Lew’s bait casters and Pflueger for spinning. I actually like them better than my Shimanos and I was sponsored by them (36 years sgo) 🤣

Whoops! After fact checking I definitely missed that. They are made in Korea and the cheaper ones possibly in China.
