Bowhunting mentors
« on: August 16, 2021, 05:16:24 PM »
Hi everyone, My name is Ethan I'm 23. I've been in Washington for about 6 months now just recently graduated and moved from Idaho. I've been rifle hunting quite a few times and have done a ton of waterfowl hunting but have always been more of a fisherman. I just bought a bow about 9 months ago after I went out for a week in September with a school friend last elk season. Absolutely fell in love with it and the idea of getting that close to the animal. As well as the meticulousness and disciple of doing it with a bow. I knew it would be something I had to do! I'm loving it so far. Been practicing every day and getting ready for the season if I get an opportunity to go out. I guess my question would be if anyone knows about any mentor programs in Washington. how I could go about that or if anyone would be interested in meeting and sharing some knowledge. Just moving here I don't really know that many people and I've been trying to do as much reading and research as I can on it. But I also know that with most other things the best knowledge you can get is hands-on and in the field. That being said I don't know the area that well and don't know much about the strategies and tactics of going about it with a  bow. Like what I'm looking for on the land, escouting the land here, terrain, and feeding  Would love to pick some people's brains and possibly meet someone who'd be willing to get out in the field and share the unique experience! Thanks all!!

Welcome to the site in the great world of bow hunting. You might see if there's a local archery club or local archery shop practice and possibly meet other bowhunters. Good luck

Definitely develop a relationship with a local archery shop. You can take lessons, have a dependable shop to help you keep your gear in shape, and have a place to shoot.
