Colville Area Turkey

Hello Hunt WA Folks!

Brand new hunter here! Got my first forest grouse last weekend, and that’s my first time ever hunting. Cooked that bad boy up and man, I’m addicted to the “from field to table” idea. Have been fishing the Sound the past few years which has lead me to wanting to go into the woods and hunt to find myself delicious dinner ideas for the family.

I’m heading over to the Spokane/Colville area this weekend in hopes of bagging my first turkey.

Any recommendations, techniques, and/or specific areas I would have some good luck in. Was looking at the Huckleberry area, but wanted to reach out to the well seasoned pros here and see if there’s anywhere else I should spend my time.

Appreciate any insight!

Thanks all!

Busy some bottles of whiskey, multiple tags, go drive around and find them in fields and go to the owners house and ask for permission. Then give a bottle away after you limit out. You'll probably find someone who will let you shoot as many as you can if you're respectful.

Most are down on big hey farms right now over there.  Lower elevation dnr land.  Go into a cafe or local bar and ask around about turkey hunting.  You might get someone with input or local land owner that would want you to take a few off his property.

We had turkeys around our stands this past weekend east of Colville. I agree with others that the majority are down closer to town. I am sure with a little leg work and some door knocking, a local would let you hunt one of their fields

Most everyone hates them around here, if your respectful and friendly you should have no problem finding land to hunt them on. Good luck!

I have been watching the herd of  pasture maggots feeding in the trees on the back of the place this morning.  All morning I have heard a eagle screeching.  Just noticed that it was on the ground.  Went to investigate and it appears that there was a homicide that took place.I have turkie feathers all over back there. 😭😭😭

I have heard that hamwks and eagles arevthe biggest predators for turkeys.  I have also seen owls in some videos take out a turkey.  I think one was posted on the forum of an owl on a security cam taking out a turkey
