GOBBLE Gobble gobble
« on: May 05, 2009, 07:54:37 PM »
Well another exciting weekend of turkeye hunting.  I myself got filled my first tag Saturday afternoon.  Then Sunday we (i.e.)(wackmaster and I) set out in a different area with one other hunting phool.  We got there at light and walked down into a canyon we new there were birds in, called a little and got a few responses way off, so we did some hiking and some more calling with no luck.  Hoofed it back up the hill to the truck and went to another area close by were we've had good luck before.  We got out of the truck and did some mouth calling over the edge of the road, Gobble gobble gobble pretty close.  We got all the gear and bailed off the edge down a steep finger between a couple draws.  About quarter of the way down, we clucked at him, instant response even closer than he was before.  Found a decent set up and started purring at him and lightly chirping and clucking.  He must have gobbled 10 times strutting and drumming about on this little bench on this steep finger.  Finally he eased his way along the left side of us puffing up in full strut with every little purr I gave him then stopping and head up looking intensely for the hen calling to him, then BLAAAAAMMMOOOHH wackmaster let him have it at about 15 yrds.  It was a fun day of hunting as usual, fun to be in the woods with good friends especially turkeye hunting.
Work sucks!!!! I should be shed hunting
