I just went out and fed the puppies, while first "Claiming" the food... second time doing that.....

Very quick Success!!!

I've had Alex and David (sons, owners of sire and dam) doing one-on-one manners training over food with these puppies. (We transitioned to this after they aged out of the ENS therapy.) It seems to have stuck pretty good!

Yesterday I took the mushed food out and set it down and claimed it... prevented them from going for it. It took a rather frenzied 60-90 seconds, but then I had them all submitting. Sitting, looking for direction from me. A little confusion... Then I pushed the food out with them.

Today, I went out, set down the food, claimed it.... and they all very enthusiastically gathered around, but they sat, or stood, wagged, looked at me, looked at the food... WAITED..... These pups are 5 weeks old!

They're getting it!!!

They will be fed this way from now on.
They will be trained to doors and gates in a similar way as soon as they move to the kennel from the puppy den area.

These pups will be READY to LEARN!

I'll try to get a video of it tomorrow, it's very fun to see!

Still tricky, bend down to correct one and another thinks it’s time to go! But you get the idea! Trying to make it non-verbal at first, then later, when the submission to the human being is established, it will transition to clear verbal commands.

Down to two black boys, and one chocolate boy.

Will get a new feeding video posted soon, before I move them to the outdoor kennel... They're sitting, letting me pet them and praise them for being so good..... food is sitting there by my feet... they want it, but they're obeying... they're 6 weeks!

Weather looks good, so I'll likely get them in the kennel this week and start doing gate and doorway training, and hopefully some leash training.

Second shots today. Second worming yesterday.

(Working the local vet to get the OFA certs done on my pack. They don't want new clients, but I'm being persistent!)

Excited to say that one of the chocolate males will be coming home to our family in a couple weeks!! Thanks for messaging yesterday and can’t wait to meet you and the new pup!

Thought I'd get really good behavior in the sunshine today, but I waited too long and they were excited and hungry. Well, that turned into a really good example video of the whole food dish submission training process... everything from the first time you try puppy training, to sucess, all in one video!

Two black boys left... REALLY responding well to their training! Food manners and jump-up prevention are already close to being established! So fun!
