Mine is 22' also and the T-8 will push my boat up river in most of the Cowlitz, plenty of thrust for this size boat. I can help you hook up a hot water wash if you need one too

Engine part is $30.00 plus about $5.00 for hose, grommet and zip ties, valve is a little more but not necessary.

 I was going to ask where the reservoir would be, but it sounds like a direct external tap for the water source?
