Corresponded with a nice lady from WDFW today. Permits have been drawn. Phone calls are being made starting today. Good luck to those of you in the draw!

They are for anybody that submitted hooves that showed signs of hoof rot. Doesn't have to be a Master Hunter. If you submitted hooves during any season last year you are in the drawing.

So the tie Elk hooves to back of truck ,drag down dirt road for 1.8 miles ,then turn in for draw.
Just joking guys ......
Please don't rip my head off .
I've got this problem of letting stuff just slip out.
I'm sorry.....

No no, you first kill, then put in hunting license, then put in for draw.

does anyone know anyone who drew this? I was entered into this and assume I was not drawn, but I cant find any information on their website. It says the details are still being worked out which is what it said when I submitted.

I drew one.  They called each winner 1 by 1 and gave them 2-3 days to choose their tag area. There were 5 areas, each w/ 4 or 5 tags.  19 total winners.  I was #17, there were only 2 remaining choices of areas when I was called.  The drawing was in April and I didn't get a call till late May I think, it took awhile to get through them.  I got a letter a few weeks ago, all winners have been notified.  Sorry you didn't win, good luck next year!  The odds were better than any draws in this state: 19 winners, only 130 or so people entered hooves.  I've gotten a little info from WDFW but sounds like they're still working out details, hence the lack of info on the general website.

To everyone else out there, I'd encourage you to submit hooves if you shoot an elk w/ hoof rot, or take a limping elk.  The meat on my elk was 100% normal and fantastic, it helps slow the spread theoretically, and the tag is an amazing opportunity if you win it.

Congrats! I hope you kill a giant. The elk I submitted had absolutely zero visible signs of hoof rot to me. He was healthy and wasn't limping. But, they found signs of hoof rot and I was entered. So you never know.
