New .223
« on: May 14, 2009, 03:16:52 PM »
Just went out and bought a new Howa Ranchland M-1500 .223 with a Nikko Sterlings Nighteater scope at Joes for $400. Got home and checked out the MSRP of the gun, scope, and rings/mounts. Around $735 for the scope, gun, dust covers, rings and mount. Pretty excited about the gun, and can't wait to get it to the range and out in the field.

Congrats on the new shooter, I have heard that Howa is a great gun. Let us know how she shoots after you get to the range.

Last year i bought the Howa nutmeg thumbhole 223 with heavey barrel.  I guarantee that once you shoot it you will fall head over heals for the way Howa builds their guns.  Good choice

I have a Howa 1500 in a 223 with a heavy barrel. They are straight out tack drivers. 100yrds one round on top of the other over and over again. I reload and mine like 50-55 grain rounds.

I just picked up a Axiom (24") in .223.  I bought the barrelled-action and U/L stock separate and saved alot of $$.   Haven't shot it yet.  Hopefully it shoots Ultramax 52 gr HPs well... just bought a bunch of it.

What color stock did you get?  Camo?

I got it in black--that's all they had... a really good price though.

You could always camo-paint it.  I believe I would, as black is a pretty stark color out there.

Agreed, the price was right!
