Welcome to the forum.  I see that you have just joined recently.  Washington state has a variety of rules for hunting.  Hard copies of the regulations are available in most stores that sell licenses.  Good luck and have fun, we all scratch our head with the regs from time to time.  Questions are great, game violations aren't so good.

So by now you know its a permit only unit for elk, it might take a few years to draw a tag but worth the wait.  If you are getting older like me, you may not want to wait that long, there are other units on the eastside and westside that are open for over the counter elk hunts, some just have antler point restrictions.  And most units on the westside are private timber land that require a seasonal pass, and that cost some money.  Wa is kinda a chit show for elk hunting and it takes some research to learn all the rules and regulations.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

I can't help you on the White River Unit, but welcome, and thank you for your service   :salute:
